Friends of Rudy Gelnett Memorial Library

This organization is a non-profit group of dedicated volunteers committed to supporting all Snyder County Libraries. They contribute through fundraising efforts, volunteering their time and skills, and advocating for the libraries and the community. Their work ensures access to books, technology, and programs, fostering learning and literacy for all ages.

Friends and Snyder County Libraries have separate boards, fundraising, and tax ID numbers.

What We Do?

In 2023, Friends celebrated 20 years of funding and advocacy for our Snyder County Libraries. We have donated in excess of $260,000+ to all four libraries. These contributions have:
  • Provided a variety of books, equipment, and computers
  • Helped sponsor a diverse range of programming for people of all ages
  • Underwritten the summer reading program
  • Raised awareness in our communities of the work of the libraries including Tree Fest of Children’s Books, and Snyder County Night Out

Why Join Friends?

State and local government funding provides assistance to our libraries, but community involvement, private donations, grants, and support from us, the Friends, are also essential. When you join Friends, you:
  • Acknowledge the importance of public libraries to our communities
  • Enjoy the pride and satisfaction from making our libraries better because of our fundraising and volunteering efforts
  • Help maintain a vital community resource
