Expanding Your Access

Expanding Your Access

At Snyder County Libraries, we are committed to providing our patrons with a rich and diverse collection of resources. We understand that sometimes the item you’re looking for may not be in our catalog. That’s why we offer two powerful services to help you get exactly what you need: our Suggest New Item Form and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.

The Power of Suggestion

Have you ever searched for an item in our library catalog only to find that it’s not available? Don’t worry; Snyder County Libraries is here to help! We’re excited to share our Suggest New Item Form – a powerful tool that helps ensure our collections reflect the diverse interests and needs of our community.

How It Works: If you can’t find an item you’re looking for, simply fill out our Suggest New Item Form. This form allows you to suggest books or other materials you believe would be a valuable addition to our library. We review all suggestions and, whenever possible, order the requested items to expand our collection.

Why Suggest an Item?

  • New and Popular Titles: If the item is a new release or a popular circulator, we will consider adding it to our collection to ensure it’s available for everyone in the community.
  • Stay Current: Help us keep our collection fresh and up-to-date with the latest releases and trending titles.
  • Support Your Interests: Your suggestions help us acquire books and materials that match the current interests and needs of our patrons.

How to Submit a Suggestion:

  1. Visit our Suggest New Item Form by clicking the button below.
  2. Fill out the required fields, including the title, author/creator, and any additional information you have about the item. You’ll also need your library card number and your preferred method of contact when your item is ready.
  3. Click submit, and you’re done! Our team will review your suggestion and notify you when the item is added to our collection.

Discover More with Interlibrary Loan

Through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, you can borrow items from other libraries across the state and even the country, expanding your access beyond our local collection.

How It Works: Our ILL service allows you to request up to three items at a time. This service is ideal for older items or those that are very specific to your needs, which might not be widely requested by other patrons.

Requesting an Item:

  1. Identify the item you need and check our catalog first.
  2. If the item is not available, submit an Interlibrary Loan request by clicking the button below.
  3. Wait for notification that your item has arrived at the library.

Please note that we cannot request new books (published within the last year), and DVD/VHS items usually must be for educational or research purposes.

Your Contribution Matters

At Snyder County Libraries, we believe in the power of community collaboration. Your suggestions and interlibrary loan requests not only help us improve our collection but also guarantee that our library remains a dynamic and relevant resource for everyone.

Start suggesting and requesting today! Together, we can make Snyder County Libraries a place where everyone can find something they love. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or feedback about these services. We’re here to assist you in any way we can.
